ST. JAMES, JAMAICA – From the heart of Norwood, St. James , Angella Brown's remarkable 27-year journey in Literature Evangelism culminated in a significant recognition from March 23-26, 2025 at the Inter-American Division Publishing Literature Evangelist Advisory-Congress in Panama. She was recognized as the top Literature Evangelist in the Inter-American Division for having the highest purchases from the Inter-American Division Publishing Association (IADPA) Bookstore, and was also awarded third place for her evangelistic impact, having led 86 souls to Christ through baptism.
The event captioned under the theme “Chosen to Proclaim His Return to the World” was a moving reminder of the tireless work of Colporteurs and their mission of changing lives one book at a time. While the accolades were a surprise, they served as a powerful testament to a life dedicated to service and faith.
"It was incredible to see so many people from different territories with the same passion," she says. "I went without knowing that I would be recognized. All praise and honor belong to God."
Out of 264 Literature Evangelists in Jamaica Union Conference, and thousands in the Inter American Division, Angella’s outstanding sales record and 'Champion for Soul Winning' award, acknowledged her steadfast commitment.

"This work has taken me to places right around the world that I could never afford to go," Angella says. "When you work for the Lord, He lifts you and takes you to higher places."
Her story is not one of overnight success, but of enduring resilience. Facing the daunting challenge of caring for her husband battling throat cancer and raising two young children as the sole provider, she found herself drawn to the Literature Evangelism Ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Leaving her factory job, she began selling books, a path that promised not only financial stability but also spiritual fulfillment. This decision, she recalls, was a divine intervention, a lifeline in a time of immense hardship.
"It was a time of immense struggle," Angella reflects, her voice filled with emotion. "I didn’t know how I would provide for my children, but God showed me the way."
Her dedication was unwavering. Even after her husband's passing in 2019, she persevered, becoming a full-time Literature Evangelist, trusting in God's provision. Like Elijah at Cherith, she witnessed unexpected blessings, funding her children's education and witnessing lives transformed through the printed word.
One particularly impactful experience occurred at a hospital, where she met a woman from her own neighborhood, Norwood. Their connection blossomed into friendship, Bible study, and ultimately, baptism. This story, among many others, underscores Angella's understanding of her ministry: “it's not just about sales; it's about sharing hope, praying with people, and leading them to Christ.”

Brown’s story is a powerful encouragement to others. She sees Literature Evangelism as a transformative opportunity, a way to lift families from adversity and strengthen spiritual lives.
"I wouldn’t take on any other work," she declares. "Especially now, when we need to reach souls through the printed page. The silent messenger, the printed page, can make a profound impact."
Her authenticity and unwavering commitment have built bridges of friendship and led countless individuals to salvation. Angella's mission remains clear: to bring hope through the printed word, a mission recognized and celebrated on an international platform in Panama. Her journey, from personal hardship to global recognition, stands as a testament to the power of faith and the enduring impact of a life of dedicated service.
